Mechanical pressure switches are used for detecting when a certain pressure level has been reached in an over pressure, vacuum or differential pressure situation.  Typically used on installations to control filling levels, filter monitoring and HVAC type applications.  The internal pressure diaphragm when pressurised to the corresponding pressure will activate the switch to either normally open or normally closed and therefore cutting or connecting the power, typically used on mains AC voltages but low level voltages aer also possible.
